This Sunday [July 28, 2019} Bishop McElroy will be celebrating the 8:30 am and 10 am Masses. He will share with our parishioners about the future staffing of Immaculate Conception Parish. As many of you know, The Franciscan School of Theology will be moving from Mission San Luis Rey to the University of San Diego Campus. Besides teaching our seminarians theology, they will be offering classes for at the graduate level for laypersons. The Franciscans staffed Immaculate Conception from 1925 until 1952. Bishop McElroy has invited them to come back to Immaculate Conception Parish. There will be at least three of them from FST that will be in residence in the rectory. They will provide Sacramental Ministry for the parish (Mass, Baptisms, Confession, etc.) They will not be able to start until February 1st, though. The Bishop is also seeking to appoint a Deacon as the Parish Administrator on a part-time basis to handle the everyday operations of the parish since the Franciscans have a commitment to teaching at USD. Since it will be five months before they arrive, the Bishop will also assign a priest to celebrate Mass on Sundays and during the week until they arrive. The Franciscans have played an important part in the history of our parish. They are making a three-year commitment to be here which is renewable in the future. To have three Franciscans living in the rectory and celebrating the sacramental needs of the parish will be a real grace. I truly believe God is actively blessing our parish. With prayers and gratitude for the goodness of our parishioners, Fr. Mike
